The World’s First Klingon-Speaking AI Launches on Star Trek’s 59^th Birthday

In 1984, linguist Marc Okrand was commissioned to develop a full Klingon language for the movie Star Trek III. He intentionally chose a word order (Object-Verb-Subject) that is rare and the opposite of English. Klingon then stepped out of fiction and into the real world, with books, plays, and even an opera performed in the language. While only a few people speak it well, Klingon stands as a sign of Star Trek’s lasting cultural mark and the power of imagination.
